Yes, I’m still publicizing EYES OF IRIS. Frankly, it’s been quite an interesting journey. I’ve learned a little bit about a lot of things: Facebook ads, hashtags, creating an online persona (funny to even type those words) on Insta/FB/TikTok, Amazon ads, Goodreads giveaways, Bookbub, book trailers (think movie trailers but for books), and the importance of customer reviews!
USA Today explains:
Overall, the first bunch of reviews for a newly-launched product are the hardest to get but also the most important.
“You need to get 20 reviews and you’re golden,” said Keith Anderson, strategy officer at Profitero, which helps online sites price their products competitively.
Which brings us to an exciting milestone! I have approximately 12 ratings/reviews on both Amazon and Goodreads! My goal is still 25, though, obviously, I’d love to smash right through that goal. So if you haven’t yet, think about hitting my book up with some stars and/or words of praise. Again, I normally wouldn’t be this bold, but (1) my publicist is forcing me to do this, and (2) customer reviews trigger algorithms, giving books online momentum and expanding reach/audience. Here are the links, and if you want to earn an A+, I’ve included a minimal template below for writing a more in-depth review:
(I’m focusing on these two because they have the biggest reach)
REVIEW WRITING TIPS, adapted from this template.
Remember, your review does not need to be perfectly written or complicated!
Reviews of either 4 or 5 stars are helpful. If you honestly aren’t able to give those, please skip it, I won’t be offended!
Some combination of the following:
1) A quick summary of the book: Perhaps start from the description on the back of the book and go from there.
2) Pick something, however small, about the book you liked—a character, a scene, a theme, the prose itself, a location:
The characters were well-developed: I loved the strange relationship between Dr. K and Iris.
I enjoyed the dialogue and banter between Iris and Artiste.
The short chapters worked well for me—I have a short attention span, and they helped me get through the book.
I want a Mobio!
3) Speak about the author:
I’m very curious about what Joshua AH Harris will write next.
4) Mention similar authors, books, movies, or shows. What did EYES remind you of?
THANK YOU again for all the support and encouragement!
Josh
I just ordered your book! I'll create a review when I've read it. Congrats!
