I’ve officially gone full beast mode (“FBM”) with regard to publicity (can one really use “with regard to” in FBM?). For one thing, I handed out at least 5 business cards touting my literary accomplishments at my college reunion last weekend. And this Sunday, I’ll be manning a booth at the Bay Area Book Festival, meeting new readers, spinning tall tales, and selling and signing books.
The fair is in downtown Berkeley—we’ll be across from the central branch of the library—and it’s actually quite a big deal. Leyla has been helping me prepare, and, believe you me, you won’t want to miss my (our) booth.
Somehow, some of this publicity is paying off. Earlier this week, I finally broke into the top 25 in one Amazon category (Time travel (kindle)) and acheived the #35 spot in another. Not quite New York Times best seller territory, but I’ll take it. The increase is due in large part to all of the amazing reviews I’ve been getting. Thank you times a million. And, for those who are just now getting to the last few pages of EYES, keep ‘em coming; every single review helps.
Side note: "beast mode" refers to “an extremely aggressive or energetic style or manner that someone (such as an athlete) adopts temporarily (as to overpower an opponent in a fight or competition).” https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/beast%20mode. The beast pictured above is our beloved Beau, from a few years back. He’s aged a bit, but haven’t we all?
I hope this finds you well and warming up to the concept of summer and all she entails.
Josh
P.S. Father’s day is just around the corner:
